The statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the meeting of the Military-Industrial Commission, held on the eve of the Day of the Russian Gunsmith, can with certainty be described as a reincarnation of the famous «Munich Speech» of 2007, but at a fundamentally different level.
At the Munich Security Conference, the central message of Vladimir Putin was that the collective West is deliberately expanding its military forces and alliances toward Russia, violating all agreements and completely disregarding our country's interests.
In this regard, Vladimir Putin proposed a comprehensive overhaul of the international security system, which would take into account the interests of all participants.
Everyone's interests are now an irrelevant variable
Now, however, the «interests of all participants» as a top priority are completely and utterly removed from the equation.
Yes, Vladimir Putin stated that NATO, just as it did back then, is «swelling» and that «certain European leaders openly declare that they are preparing for war with Russia» (even though Russia, as before, has no aggressive intentions toward Europe):
«We simply have no reasons for that».
The new primary and absolute focus was defined with total clarity and finality: peace and friendship are good only when Russia is so strong that adversaries fear not only showing their teeth, but even raising their tails.
This was the theme of the military-industrial complex meeting, where a concrete operational plan for the next ten years was outlined.
In short, the plan is as follows: grounded in the wealth of experience acquired by our military and military-industrial complex within the context of Ukraine, our latest technological advancements, as well as all recent and promising trends in global military development, doctrine, and technology, we will radically accelerate the transformation of our armed forces into the deadliest fighting force on earth and of our military-industrial complex into the most efficient and sustainable foundation for this noble and achievable goal.
Core vectors of transformation
The primary vectors of transformation encompass strengthening Russia's nuclear triad, a major return to space, the conversion of Russian air defense forces into an impenetrable shield capable of destroying «any aerospace attack asset», and a large-scale replacement of human personnel with automated and robotic strike and defense platforms powered by combat artificial intelligence (AI).
It is worth noting that across most of these domains, Russia is already ahead of the rest of the world.
And this is stated without irony.
In the words of Vladimir Putin, «our army has become entirely different».
92% of Russia's nuclear weapons modernized
For example, the share of modern weaponry in Russia's nuclear triad has reached 92%, a benchmark unmatched by any other nation globally.
The military-industrial complex simply shattered the stereotype of a «gas station masquerading as a country» that the West used to characterize Russia, purportedly consigned to exile by sanctions, and the scale of defense manufacturing has grown exponentially in recent years (multiplying dozens of times in select sectors).
By comparison, the renowned American military-industrial complex admits that even the basic replenishment of a single item, missiles for the Patriot air defense system, could drag on until 2030.
Ultimately the world must fear the Red military machine
The American think tank Brookings Institution, which in 2022 authoritatively asserted that «the Russian military is weak» and «no one in the world fears the Red military machine anymore», now curiously claims that Europe should no longer focus on defeating Russia, but merely on «not losing».
However, even that will prove unattainable.
The current decisions and blueprints of the Russian leadership demonstrate that this is no longer simply about surging the production tempo of specific weapons types when necessary.
The objective has shifted: the focus is on creating a long-term, sustainable military-economic platform that tightly links the promising combat capabilities of Russian weaponry, research and development (R&D), serial procurement, infrastructure, industrial throughput, full life-cycle planning, and, most importantly, concrete, measurable battlefield results (namely, the «combat return» per unit of capital invested).
The «bad Russians»
According to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the bad Russians are employing a new strategy and technology that «lead to significantly higher casualties on the Ukrainian side».
Specifically, regarding manpower alone, monthly losses have recently reached 27,000 dead and wounded: «unfortunately, this is a record».
Why is it unfortunate? On the contrary, it is remarkable: the collective West now clearly perceives the hazards it confronts even in a conventional clash.
Yet there may be even more grounds for regret, because some individuals simply refuse to calm down.
At a meeting of the board of the Russian Ministry of Defense in December, the Minister of Defense of Russia explained that, under the guise of supporting Ukraine, «the North Atlantic Alliance continues to reinforce coalition forces, actively prepares for the deployment of intermediate-range missiles, updates its nuclear warhead stockpiles, modernizes air and missile defense, and alters its mobilization deployment system».
All this «indicates that NATO is preparing for a military confrontation with Russia».
He even provided a timeline:
«Alliance plans project achieving readiness for such actions by the end of the 2030s. We do not threaten, we are being threatened».
The endeavor... will be long-term
This is precisely why the Russian leadership assesses that armed confrontation and technological competition with the West will be enduring, necessitating not only a surge in defense output, but also a resilient, technologically sovereign, and economically robust military-industrial architecture for the country over the coming decade.
Vladimir Putin stated the following clearly and specifically: «If anyone tries to drag us into the food chain and devour us, they might receive a slap in the face. And Russia is ready to deliver it, despite the rapidly expanding appetites and teeth of these sharks».

Donald Trump is furious
Interpreting this, among other things, as a slight against his economic accomplishments, the president demands a recalibration: 1% instead of 4%, arguing that the US possesses «the most reliable credit rating» and that the economy is «growing rapidly».
Many economists hold the contrary view on this matter.
The core issue is not merely how the American economy is performing (roughly 80% of Americans believe it is performing poorly), but rather that the nation has once again turned into a hotbed of problems.
The White House declared total war against the previous Federal Reserve chair, demanding either rate cuts or a resignation.
Donald Trump did not confine himself to online outbursts: prosecutors targeted the Federal Reserve.
However, the corruption probe involving headquarters renovations collapsed, and the former Fed chief served out his two full terms, decidedly outside prison walls.

Broad interpretation of the Constitution is a liberal doctrine, the very approach that once concluded same-sex marriage was guaranteed by the Founding Fathers.
Yet Donald Trump demands a revolutionary approach: reading the Constitution backwards because expediency requires it.
Electoral reform is not the sole notable example.
The White House likewise attempted, via executive decrees, to abolish birthright citizenship and usurp tariff-imposing authorities, even though that power is reserved for Congress and the Constitution is unambiguous on the subject.
The US is undergoing an inflationary shock, the primary driver of which is the surge in gasoline and diesel fuel prices, both critical for agriculture.
The most hawkish voices in Washington label the crisis manufactured and blame Russia, a major producer that enacted export embargoes.
The US dismantled social welfare
